2013 Mercedes Benz SL details revealed

2013 Mercedes Benz SL
After a series of spy shots and official images and a video, Mercedes has finally disclosed all the details of the much talked about 2013 SL roadster. This will be the first Mercedes mass production car to have a body made entirely out of aluminium, and weighs 140kgs less than its predecessor. The engine is more economical and environment friendly and consumes 29 per cent less than outgoing generation.

The new SL 500 V8 will be powered by 4663cc producing 435PS and a massive 700Nm, while the SL 350 will have 3499cc mill developing 306PS and 370Nm. The SL variants are fitted with 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission along with a standard-fit ECO start/stop function. The BlueDIRECT engines certainly boost the economy but have no affect on the performance, as the new SL 350 can reach 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds while the SL 500 manages the feat in a jaw dropping 4.6 seconds.

The roadster is also available with two different suspension systems - Semi active adjustable damping as standard fit and ABC (Active Body Control) as an alternative. Mercedes has also developed a system called Magic Vision Control for SL roadster, a technology that integrates washer nozzles into wiper blades and removes chances of getting drenched when roof is down.  The car will also have another new feature called FrontBass system , which uses free space in aluminium structure in the front and gives better music clarity again with the roof down.
