Refreshed Audi R8 is coming in 2012, new generation in 2014

Audi R8
A refreshed version of the Audi R8 will hit the market in 2012, while the second generation of the sports car has been scheduled to debut in 2014.

According to egmcartech.com, the German based automaker Audi is planning to introduce a refreshed version of the R8 sports car in 2012. Our source is also telling us that the model will come with a mild facelift and some technology upgrades, and later in 2012, the sports car will be fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, an improved MMI system and a power increase from the V10 engine, which is expected to develop up to 540 horsepower. 2012 will also bring us the production version of the R8 e-tron in very limited units.

Even if the Audi R8 has been scheduled to get a refresh in 2012, this actually isn’t the second generation of the sports car, and enthusiasts of the German model will still have to wait until 2014, when the new R8 will hit the market. The Audi R8 has been in production ever since 2006 and the supercar is coming in two body styles, two-door coupe and two-door spyder, with a choice of two engines, the 4.2 liter FSI V8 and the 5.2 liter FSI V10.
