Volvo V40 gets ready to compete with Audi A3 sportback and BMW X1 (spy shots)

2012 Volvo V40

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo is getting ready to launch all new V40 at the Geneva Motor Show next year. The new Volvo V40 is designed to compete with Audi A3 sportback and BMW X1. Audi and BMW have managed to register increase in sales after A3 and X1 were launched respectively. Volvo too is hoping launching V40 will do the same for them.

Earlier this week, AutoBlog photographers managed to click spy shots of the Volvo V40 while it was under winter testing in Sweden where temperatures currently are approximately -25 degrees Celsius. It was believed earlier that, Volvo would be naming their 5 door S30 variant as V30, but as their CEO, Mr Stefan Jacoby mentioned, the five door version of S30 will be christened as V40.

Volvo is yet to reveal any details about their new car, but you can expect V40 to be launched in both petrol and diesel powered variants with 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged engines generating maximum power of over 200 bhp. Just like their S60 variants, V40 too has been given a decent design which pleases the eye.
