BMW 4 Series Convertible Test Car Spied In Germany

BMW 4-Series Convertible

While opinion remains divided over whether BMW will rebadge its 3 Series coupe and convertible as the 4 Series, development of the new two-door models continues unabated.

These photos give us our first look at the convertible model, which will, like the current 3-Series convertible, use a folding hard top roof. Dimensional changes are hard to pin down thanks to BMW's trademark swirly camouflage, but initial impressions are good.

The present-day E93 3 Series drop-top is undoubtedly one of the most attractive hard-top convertibles on the market, and judging from the proportions of this camouflaged prototype, its replacement is shaping up to be just as handsome.

Powertrain details have yet to be announced, however expect the same four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the all-new F30 3 Series sedan to find their way into BMW's new convertible.

A precise launch date has not been locked in, however industry pundits say to look forward to a late 2012 or early 2013 debut.
