Future Infiniti compact vehicle to be based on Mercedes A-Class

The future compact vehicle which will be developed by Infiniti will be based on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

The Japanese based automaker Nissan and its luxury division Infiniti are already planning a new compact model which theoretically should be the most accessible vehicle in its segment. Infiniti says that this upcoming model will be based on the same platform as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, named the MFA, which will debut on the future generation of the A-Class in 2012. The Japanese carmaker is also saying that the Infiniti compact car will be made at the Magna Steyr plant in Austria.



The Infiniti compact vehicle will be the first model to roll out the assembly line after a partnership signed between Daimler and Nissan and the cheapest Infiniti will make its way onto the market in 2013. The new model is expected to be powered by four and six-cylinder engines and engine range will include both petrol and diesel units, which will come from Mercedes-Benz and will be turbocharged. So basically you will be paying for a Mercedes-Benz and get an Infiniti. How cool is that? Anyway, among the models made at Magna Steyr, Austria, are the first generation of the BMW X3, the European version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Peugeot RCZ, the Mini Countryman and the Mercedes G-Class.
