2013 Porsche Boxster unveiled, in showrooms from April

Porsche Boxter

Just after Porsche revealed the new 911 Cabriolet at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the German automaker is presenting the new 2013 Boxster.

The new vehicle will debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March and will hit the market somewhere in April.

The exterior changes aren’t overwhelming but they are enough to distinguish this new car from older Boxsters. The interior design offers the driver and passenger more space and reflects the new Porsche outline, while the distinctive center console – originating in the Carrera GT – further improves ergonomics.

Engines and gearboxes

The basic power unit in the 2013 Porsche Boxster delivers 265 hp from a 2.7 liter displacement – ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor.

The S model – the Boxster S now delivers 315 hp, which is five hp more than before. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option.

Fuel economy improves from 31mpg on the EU Combined cycle in the Boxster to 36.7mpg, and from 30mpg in the Boxster S to 35.3mpg.

When and how much

The new 2013 Boxster models are expected in U.S. showrooms in early summer 2012(~ April). The basic Boxster will start at $49,500, while the S variant will cost $60,900 (not including a $950 destination charge).
