Porsche 911 Cabriolet confirmed for Detroit

Porsche 911 Cabriolet

Porsche has officially announced that the new generation of the 911 Cabriolet will be officially presented at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week.

Even if the new generation of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet has been already presented to the public and even scheduled to go on sale from March 2012, the model will actually debut on the over-seas auto market right after the American automotive event. Just like its “covered” brother, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet is coming in two versions, the Carrera and the Carrera S, where both of them will receive the same treatment as the Coupe. Porsche says that the Carrera Convertible will be powered by a 3.4 liter flat-six engine, generating 350 HP, while the Carrera S Convertible will take its power from a larger 3.8 liter flat-six which is developing 400 HP.

Both engines are sending the power to the rear wheels through a standard seven-speed manual transmission, with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK being available as an option. The Carrera drop-top can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds before hitting a top speed of 286 km/h, while the Carrera S Cabrio can do the same spring in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 301 km/h. The new generation of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet will be launched in Germany on March 3, 2012, and the Carrera will cost 100.532 EUR while the Carrera S will be priced at 114.931 EUR (VAT included).
