| Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid |
Volvo has recently announced that it will officially present the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show next week.
According to the Swedish based automaker, just like the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid, the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept is actually an all-in-one hybrid, electric and performance vehicle by using its gasoline engine or electric motor and the model has three operation modes, Pure, Hybrid and Power, which can be selected at the touch of a button. Volvo says that the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid has a range of 35 miles in Pure mode (56 km), while in Hybrid mode, the gasoline engine and the electric motor are working together, offering an average fuel consumption of 2.3 l/100km (123 mpg UK / 102 mpg US) while emitting 53g/km of CO2.
Last but not least comes the Power mode, where the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid is coming with a total output of 276 horsepower + 69 HP, with a peak torque of 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) + 200 Nm (149 lb-ft). The concept car can now accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, while the 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 6.1 seconds. The Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid has the performance of a V8 powered vehicle combined with the low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions of a hybrid. Power to the model is coming from a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine which is powering the rear wheels, while the electric motor is powered by a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Recharging takes just 3.5 hours with a 220V/12A outlet.
