Range Rover Evoque is the 2012 North American Truck of the Year

The Hyundai Elantra and the Range Rover Evoque have recently been named the 2012 North American Car and North American Truck of the Year.

Hyundai Elantra had some serious competition from the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Passat, who were the finalists of the 2012 North American Car of the Year, while Range Rover Evoque had to beat two vehicles from two different continents, the BMW X3 and the Honda CR-V, managing to win the title of the 2012 North American Truck of the Year. The award for the 2012 North American Car / Truck of the year has been voted by a team of fifty automotive journalists and the finalists have been revealed at an Automotive Press Association luncheon in Detroit.

According to the organizers, the envelopes containing the names of the finalists, listed in alphabetical order, have been handed over by Michelle Collins, a partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, to Karl Brauer, a member of the awards’ organizing committee and the Editor in Chief for Total Car Score. The second round of voting has then begun and the Hyundai Elantra has been named the 2012 North American Car of the Year, while the Range Rover Evoque was named the 2012 North American Truck of the Year.
