New Porsche 918 Spyder going to 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Porsche 918 Spyder

The German based automaker Porsche is planning to introduce the new 918 Spyder model at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to the guys over at the germancarblog.com, the new generation of the Porsche 918 Spyder will be officially presented to the public at the next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, which is set to open its gates in just over 18 months. Even if there’s no official word on this yet from Porsche, the new 918 Spyder is expected to be powered by a 4.6 liter V8 engine, once the model will go into production. The unit will be larger than the 3.4 liter which it was powering the 2010 concept car, revealed in Geneva, and it will develop 410 kW.

Sadly this is all we know for now about the new Porsche 918 Spyder, but as a reminder, the model is a mid-engined sports car which is coming in a single body style, two-door roadster. The model presented at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show was being powered by a 3.4 liter engine, developing 500 horsepower, helped on the way by three electric motors, which were generating 218 HP. The engine was mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and the sports car had a total weight of just 1.490 kg (3.300 lbs).
